Farming for Materials

Let's face it.  You got issues getting some materials to craft those blueprints that are mocking you in your foundry, right?  Here are some suggestions to getting better returns in things.
  • -Find what you need on what planet.  I've found that most defense missions are the best at farming materials, survivals being the second best.  The dark sector defense types are great, especially with the bonuses that happen.  Also note that the bonus on each node rotate with other nodes.  This means that one time it might be what you see here, the next it might be different.

  • -Put on a loot detector and get to opening those lockers, breakables, and killing the enemies.  There is a loot detector mod that you can put on your warframe, your sentinel, and your companion.  Just pick one and make sure that sucker is maxed out.
  • -Make sure your sentinel or companion has either vacuum or fetch.  Max out that mod!
  • -Pick your small buddy tag-along carefully.
    • -Helios can scan plants for their extracts, but this only works if they are not fully documented.

    • -Spare parts on your sentinel can increase your chances of a rare resource drop.

    • -Looter on your Carrier can help assist in breaking all those pesky crates.

    • -Smeeta kavats are a default, go-to companion largely due to Charm mod.  The affinity buff that they have works on everything: dropped loot, mining, fishing, and extractors in excavation missions.  The Tek Enhance mod stacks additionally to what the kavat had already, making it a worthy investment.

    • -If you prefer the Kubrow over robots and Kavats, the Chesa and Sahasa have mods that help find additional loot.  This isn't as good as the Smeeta, but it is an option.  Please note that the Dig mod has a more wide array of options of what exactly gets dug up.  Among those options, credits and mods are a possibility.

  • -The codex/synthesizer scanner can help you spot some hidden or pesky areas.  Just whip it out and look for red/green images.
  • -Certain warframes provide additional perks
    • -Nekros
      • -Desecrate gives a 54% chance for enemies to drop additional items.
    • -Ivara
      • -Prowl allows her to pickpocket enemies.
      • -Great for specific enemies that drop a particular item.
    • -Atlas
      • -Ore Gaze provides a 25% chance to reroll their drop tables.
      • -This scales with strength.
    • -Hydroid
      • -Pilfering Swarm doubles the drop chance of all enemies caught by the tentacle swarm.
    • -Khora
      • -Pilfering Strangledome gives a 65% chance to drop additional loot from the strangledome.
  • -Extractor drones are your friends.  It might seem like a waste but it helps provide that little extra that you might need for your next building project.  This works wonders if you utilize the Warframe app on your phone, so you don't have to log into the game just to manage these.
    • -Depending on your budget, distilling extractors are better than titan extractors.  They cost a little more to make but they last 2x as long and have a higher chance to get rare resources.
  • -Don't be a lazy person in missions.  Get out there and pick up the loot.  These things will expire after a while, so just go do it.
  • -If you are after argon crystals:
    • -Farm what you need.  These suckers deteriorate in quantity in a period of 24 to 48 hours.
    • -If you're going to farm them, make sure you have everything else ready to go.  If not, you'll be right back out there farming for more.  Save yourself the trouble and do it once.
  • -If you are after fish:
    • -Make sure you do your research on the type of fish.  Some need a certain type of spear, bait, what time they are out, what kind of body of water they are in, and if they are found in the hot spots of water.
    • -Only dismantle however many fish you need parts for.  A general rule of thumb is dismantle the smaller fish.  Save the rest for another day or to trade for standing.  The larger they are, the more rep you can get.
  • -If you are after mining:
    • -Get yourself a good mining device.  As of this article, the cutter from Fortuna is the best.  You can mod it for silence as well as distance.
    • -Aim at those dots and don't waiver.  If you do, it cuts the mining short and you get a lesser chance of getting a higher valued gem.
    • -With the cutter mentioned above, you need to time it right.  You want to release in the middle of the [ ] to get a higher valued gem.  On the flip side, if you need common gems, just hit the dot and/or cut it off early or late in the [ ].

    • -When you are in a cave, hit the map button (default is M key).  It shows you the cave map and where the gems are.
